Moving In to Service Family Accommodation (SFA)
- Moving In – Your Move-in will be managed by DE.
- The Move-In Standard - Before you move in to your SFA it will be inspected to establish that it meets the prescribed Move In Standard. MODern Housing Solutions are responsible for ensuring the standard is met.
Works which may be identified in your property fall into four categories:
Fitness for Occupation
Those works needed to ensure that all basic facilities work e.g. cookers and heating systems, in accordance with the move-in standard, will be completed before you move-in.
Routine Works
Non-critical works needed to bring the house up to the move-in standard. In some instances where there is insufficient time to complete all necessary works, it may be necessary to complete these after move in. MHS schedule any "residual works" for completion shortly after your Move-In and will write to you advising of the works outstanding and the date(s) on which these works have been scheduled. If this is inconvenient for you, we would ask that you contact the Help Desk to reschedule.
Inconsequential Works
At move-in there may be perceived deficiencies which do not fall within the Move-In standard, and which will not be addressed during your occupancy. These will generally be of a minor nature, such as chips on paintwork, small tears or stains in carpets, old paint runs, etc. and should be referred to the Housing Information Centre.
Special Needs
Where a family has special needs, these should be notified in advance through DE in accordance with the Guide to Living in SFA. DE will advise us of these needs and authorise us to carry out any necessary modifications before your move in date. Please ensure we are given sufficient notice to carry out the work.
Moving Out of Service Family Accommodation
Your Move-out will be managed by DE, including the mandatory pre-move out inspection, handover of the property, etc. You will be expected to leave it in a condition which meets the Move-out Standard. This is essentially the same as the Move-In Standard, except that we will carry out any repairs outstanding when you leave. You may be charged for any repairs that arise from damage as opposed to fair wear and tear. To book your move-out, please contact the Housing Information Service on: 0800 169 6322.
