Safety, Environment and Quality

Health and Safety

Ensuring the health, safety and welfare of our employees, housing occupants and anybody else who can be affected by our operation is seen as a wholly integral part of, and paramount to delivering, the Housing Prime Contract in an effective and efficient manner. Training of our workforce to the highest safety standards is seen as an important aspect of the service delivery and a continual programme of monitoring helps to ensure that our operation delivers the required service in the safest possible manner without risk to occupants and their families.

Safety in the Home

We strongly underscore the need to report any dangerous conditions in your Service Family Accommodation to us via the Helpdesk, in order that we can repair it with the necessary priority.

Environment and Sustainability

For the duration of our contract we aim to help DE reduce their impact on the environment through the implementation of an environmental management system that is compliant with the ISO14001 Standard. Our environmental policy (click here) outlines the key areas of our business where we feel we must manage our environmental impact and make continuous improvements.

Our work and that of DE has a significant impact on the quality of life for our customers and for the communities in which we live and work. We recognise that our corporate social responsibility extends beyond environmental issues. We must also respect the rights of the people we serve and look to invest in both the economic and social structure of their communities. To this end we are facilitating a programme of community projects that address the needs of our customers requiring an investment of both time and resources from ourselves and other stakeholders

We take an integrated approach to sustainability, from design, through the supply chain and ongoing maintenance. We also deliver strategic support to improve the use of existing facilities. Under our Core Works Projects, we provide buildings that are efficient in construction and operation and improve the experience of those living in them. Our approach maximises benefits to both customer and community through:

  • design for sustainability
  • minimising waste
  • whole-life costing
  • specification of materials and techniques
  • energy efficiency
  • robust programme management
  • supply chain engagement
